We were delighted to have Keonte Beals visit Brookhouse elementary arranged by the African NS student support work, Ms. Willis to kick off African Heritage Month in February 2024 to share his cultural relevant storytelling, engaging students and staff through an interactive environment reading his books on self-love and embracing unique differences. Keonte was able to connect with all students and staff by providing a safe, fun and educational experience. As one of his book titles states, “I Am a King” and we made sure to treat Keonte Beals like a King when he visited Brookhouse Elementary.

It was a great pleasure to have Keonte do a presentation at my school. The students were excited and enjoyed the presentation very much. The presentation was very interactive and engaging. The teachers also commented on the presentation and found it to be awesome. They said it was well done.

The I Am Experience Tour was one of kind! The stories, the art, the singing and the entertainment kept everyone entertained and wanting more- even the big kids and staff! Keonte was excellent and made each and every student feel important. We can’t wait for Keonte to visit us again! The students are already asking when he can come back!

Keonté is not just a performer; he's a beacon of positivity and self-acceptance. He brought an unforgettable experience to our club with his presentation, sharing his inspiring children's book "I Am Perfectly Me". His storytelling resonated with our club kids, spreading messages of empowerment and self-acceptance. Beyond words, the songs he shared added another layer of magic to the event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. His visit was truly memorable, leaving our club kids uplifted and empowered, proof of that was seen when all of our children surrounded him for his autograph at the end of the presentation.

The Halifax Public Libraries' Preston Township Office hosted multi-talented R&B singer and author Keonté Beals Feb. 13 at the North Preston Community Centre in a wonderful program about his background and process writing his own books and music, ending in a fun mini-concert. We particularly enjoyed the sensory experience of seeing the visuals of Keonté's books and artwork projected on the screen as he read the stories or sang songs. At the North Preston Community Centre, our staff invited the local Nelson Whynder Elementary School students to come. We had a huge turnout of 120 people! We held the program in the gym so there was plenty of space. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying and being inspired by their hometown author/artist/musician. At the end of the program, Keonté invited the children to dance around, which was a joyful experience and lovely to see. I will copy my colleague, Renise, who helped host the program, to see if she has any other parts to add! Thank you, Ashlee
